Eesti NSV Teaduste Akadeemia Toimetised Bioloogia 16(4): 383 (1967)

Type: Thelephora corium Pers., Synopsis methodica fungorum: 574 (1801)

This genus has about eleven species. We have one or two species known in the Chicago Region, depending on which ones you include in this genus.

  1. Byssomerulius corium is whitish and can be confused with Irpex.
  2. Byssomerulius incarnatus [Phlebia incarnata] has a beautiful pink cap.
Byssomerulius was considered a synonym of Meruliopsis by Ginns (1998) but the type species of that genus, Meruliopsis taxicola, was moved to Gloeoporus by Gilbertson and Ryvarden in 1985.
