Type: Thelephora corium Pers., Synopsis methodica fungorum: 574 (1801)
This genus has about eleven species. We have one or two species known in the Chicago Region, depending on which ones you include in this genus.
- Byssomerulius corium is whitish and can be confused with Irpex.
- Byssomerulius incarnatus [Phlebia incarnata] has a beautiful pink cap.
- Byssomerulius was considered a synonym of Meruliopsis by Ginns (1998) but the type species of that genus, Meruliopsis taxicola (1959), was moved to Gloeoporus by Gilbertson and Ryvarden in 1985.
