Genus Climacodon P. Karst.

Type: Hydnum septentrionale Fr. : Fr., Systema Mycologicum 1: 414 (1821)

This genus has six species (as of Moreno et al. 2017). Climacodon pulcherrimus has moved to Donkia pulcherrima in the Phanerochaetaceae; it has smaller shelves. One species is common in eastern North America.

  1. Climacodon septentrionalis forms large imbricate shelves, often on maple.
Climacodon was listed by Ginns (1998) as belonging in the family Climacodontaceae.
